Training Course on "Repair of Concrete Structures"

The ACI-KC arranged One day course under the title of Repair of Concrete Structures , Which was sponsored by the Chapter. The course was aiming on :
♦ Repair and Rehabilitation Process.
♦ Concrete Problems in the field including corrosion of steel.
♦ Inspection and Evaluation to assess status of infrastructure.
♦ Principles of Rehabilitation and Strengthening.
♦ Conventional Repair Materials, Techniques and Placement.
♦ Repair Design using Composite Materials according to ACI code.
♦ Case studies and development of rehabilitation strategies.

Course Instructor was Dr. Khaled Soudki Professor and Canada Research Chair in Innovative Structural Rehabilitation in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo.

Dr. Soudki is recognized as an international leader and a world-renowned expert in the rehabilitation of structures. He is listed in Canadian Who’s Who. His research and teaching contributions over the last 20 years have been in the field of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures with emphasis on the use of fibre reinforced polymers (FRP). He has published over 250 research publications in the literature of structural rehabilitation and prestressed applications.Dr. Soudki has held visiting/academic appointments at Queen’s University in Kingston, Royal Military College of Canada, American University of Beirut, and Swiss federallaboratory for material testing (Empa). He was also the founding Dean of Engineering at the American University in Dubai, UAE.

The Course took place on 24th March 2011 at Holiday Inn, Salmia.
